Afterpay has become such a popular payment option for so many products and now you can Afterpay contact lenses at contactlens.com.au. It has been added to our long list of online payment options including PayPal, Amex, Google Pay and credit cards.
Household budgets are tough to manage and there are items that
are “must haves”, prescription contact lenses fall into that category for
many.
At Contactlens.com.au we started to look for responsible “Buy
Now Pay Later” options that would help our customers purchase the lenses they need,
when they needed them rather than struggle without or over wear lenses that can
impact eye health.
We wanted this service to be free for our customers to join
with no interest charged or hidden fees. The service needed to have the ability
to split up the full payment of the contact lens order into manageable payments
spread over a reasonable period. We particularly looked for a service that
would help manage spending.
Afterpay for us ticked all the boxes.
When you Afterpay contact lenses only a quarter or 25% of the
full price is payable upfront and your order is processed and dispatched straight
away.
The remaining balance is then split into three equal instalments
due every 2 weeks after the initial payment, eg. If contact lenses are purchased on the 1st
of the month, the next instalment is due 2 weeks after that, and so on. Payments
are automatically deducted from the credit or debit card is registered with
Afterpay. Prior to any deductions being made, Afterpay will let you know in
advance that an instalment payment is due so you can ensure monies are
available.
There are no joining or annual fees as Afterpay charge us,
the merchant for each transaction. However,
customers will be subjected to late fees if payment instalments are not paid on
time. Initially the late fee starts at $10, if the instalment remains unpaid
after 7 days a further $7.00 will be applied, this continues until the instalment
is paid. Late fees are limited to 25% of the order
value or a maximum of $68, which ever is the lesser value. Afterpay will also
pause the account not allowing any further purchases until payments are up to
date.
If you would like to Afterpay contact lenses and haven’t got
an account, you can do this by simply selecting Afterpay at the checkout. The Afterpay portal will open and from there you
can enter your details. You’ll need to be over 18 years old, have an email
address, a phone number and an Australian credit or debit card to link the
account to.
Afterpay will review your contact lens order amount in your
shopping cart and either approve or decline the transaction straight away, based
on your credit history and availability of funds in your linked credit or debit
card. Your Afterpay account is set up if your first transaction is approved.
Afterpay will ask you to download their app or you can visit
the website to set up a password, once this is done you can manage your account
and also visit the extensive shopping directory that lists many Afterpay
retailers. Every purchase made using Afterpay always goes through an approval
process.
For first time customers the spend limit starts at $600 and
the payment period is 4 x 2 weekly payments.
If Afterpay is used responsibility and payments are made on time, the
spend limit increases and so can payment periods. However, missed payments not
only attract late fees but accrued debts can be recorded on your credit file
and reported to debt collectors than can affect your future ability to apply
for home loans or credit cards.
