Dailies AquaComfort Plus Toric lenses correct Astigmatism, a refractive error caused by an irregular shaped cornea or the natural lens of the eye. Made by Alcon, Dailies AquaComfort Plus Toric lenses were introduced into the Australian market in 2014, they are a popular astigmatic daily disposable lens and are readily available.

Dailies AquaComfort Plus Toric diagnostic trials, however, have been discontinued in order to discourage Eye Care Professionals refitting this older lens or introducing it to new contact lens wearers. This encourages the promotion of the new generation of daily toric lenses from Alcon – Precision1 and Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism.

Like Dailies AquaComfort Plus Toric the newer generation of lenses; Precision1 and Dailies Total1 for Astigmatism feature a light blue tint, making the lens easier to see in the vial and on the finger tip. To aid insertion, a vertical line marking at the 6 o’clock helps to identify the correct lens orientation. This allows the lens to settle into position quickly, helping achieve clear vision quickly.

Another tip for inserting toric lenses, once the lens is in the eye, gently close your eyelid and softly tap the top of the eyelid to help remove any air pockets and seat the lens. With your eyes closed, gently look left, right, up and down will also help the lens settle into position.
